For our US based client Zipline, a new structure spanning a vast 1000 square meter meticulously crafted to accommodate the company's expanding operations in India. The building thoughtfully designed to meet the unique requirements of the medical warehouse and the unmanned airplane flight operations area. Our ultimate goal in designing Zipline's new building is to craft a design that would embody the essence of Zipline and become a signature of the company from afar. To achieve this, we opted for a minimalist and clean-lined design, accented by Zipline's signature red.
The building’s design takes into account the unique requirements of its different areas. The flight ops section boasts a soaring roof, while the medical warehouse features a lower, more utilitarian design. The slope of the roof provides an elegant solution to these distinct needs.
This building is designed as a prefab structure, manufactured in steel, and dispatched from the factory for rapid on-site erection without compromising quality. The steel structure not only provides for fast on-site erection but also allows for a large free span and a free plan, making it highly versatile. Skylights allow for natural daylight in the flight operation area, which will help to reduce the electrical load of the building.
The building’s distinctive red hue is a nod to the brand image and logo, making it instantly recognizable from afar.
The use of this red color has been meticulously done on those surfaces where the building is sliced as well as for the entrance tunnel which protrudes out of the longer side facade.
Each of the 40 sites where the building will be erected presents its own unique set of challenges. To address this, the building’s orientation is carefully selected based on the prevailing wind direction, ensuring that the unmanned airplanes taking off from it will be able to do so with maximum efficiency.
