This Maharaja palace belongs to a princely state in Maharashtra that finds its origin in the 14th century. The palace was built on a cliff overlooking a wide valley of lush greenery and various mountains. The structure requires extensive restoration and redesign for it to be transformed into a quaint boutique hotel. The Client appointed us to develop a feasibility study in regards with analysis of the existing structure, the main structural repairs that require to be undertaken as well as along with possible options for number of rooms, restaurants, back of the house area and service areas.
We prepared a design and feasibility report redevelopment of this heritage palace to a boutique hotel with 28 Rooms. The visionary document comprised of Interior space planning, structural renovations, MEP requirements, water and electrical loading, vertical transport, operational requirements and total project cost calculations.
The palace was built in the 1920s from sandstone blocks, reinforced concrete slabs and basalt stone walls. The stone was brought from a quarry 5 km away. It is said that when the work of palace was completed, the quarry from which the stone was extracted was destroyed.
The current entrance lobby on the ground floor with inlaid marble flooring, local style wind passing jallies and the access to the grand staircase to the first floor. The unique elements of architecture will be retained in the design.
